Army Officer School

Upon completion of the Reserve Officers Training Corp basic training course, the officer candidate may elect to take the Officer Basic Training Course. To be admitted, the candidate must be at least 19 and no more than 29 years old when selected for the course, although there are certain circumstances when other ages may be considered. If increasing your skills in leadership and management is a key goal in your career path, then the Officer Candidate School is the way to do it, and is open to both graduates and college seniors.

As an open door to a position in one of sixteen exciting Army career paths, candidates may earn a commission in the active Army or the Reserves. Officers plan and lead their soldiers in numerous locales across the globe, and develop skills and training highly prized, respected and rewarded, not only by the military establishment, but by employers and companies throughout the civilian world.

The basic training for officers is a nine week course, starting with establishing themselves as full soldiers and moving on to twelve weeks of intensive officer training in Fort Benning, Georgia.

Successful completion of the Army's Officer Training Course must commit to serving three years commissioned service, and in the case of the Reserves, six years. Contact your local Army Recruiter for more information.

Warrant Officer School

The Warrant Officer program is similar in structure to the Officer Training program in that successful applicants first go through the nine week basic training course. Following this they attend the Warrant Officer Candidate School and it is at this point that the nature of the Warrant Officer and Officer Training program diverges. The Warrant officer begins an education process that is made up of highly specialized and focused training in specialty careers, becoming experts in their field with superior technical and tactical skills.

This particular Army career path includes forty-three technical specialties and 13 branches of study that include Intelligence and Special Forces.

One of the most visible fields of study is the Flight Training program, providing candidates the opportunity to pilot helicopters such as the Apache and Chinook, while earning flight pay in addition to the regular remunerations afforded the officer-in-training. The flight program begins after six weeks of Warrant Officer training.
